A Summer Mantel with Blue & White Porcelain

For this summer’s mantel, I clearly moved into a maximalist look. All of my blue and white had been displaced from the dresser in our bedroom for a major makeover for the One Room Challenge. This displacement seemed like the perfect time to showcase the smaller pieces altogether.

Today, I am joining the group of Seasonal Simplicity home bloggers to bring you 15 different Summer Mantels! Be sure to check them all out through the links below!

A few of the larger pieces, I gathered next to the fern in the fireplace. This classic look is one I’ve actually never done before and I quite like it.

Be sure not to miss the little whimsical blue and white frog!

Lest you think I just plopped all the vases on the mantel without much thought, I tell you a little of what I considered as I arranged them carefully.

Obviously, I started with the tallest vase on the outside to take advantage of the space I had next to the art. The art is actually our Samsung Frame TV. While Frame TVs are quite an investment, I can honestly say it is worth it! It brings me such joy to not have to look at a big black box. Instead, I change the art seasonally.

Then I added each piece considering how the shapes commingled. Balancing the rounded shapes with square shapes and varying the heights. I have a mix of vintage and newer blue and white pieces.

I also added in two textural, creamy white vases to add a little variety.

A place to display summer blooms

This spring I continued expanding our backyard landscaping this year to include perennials, so I am hoping to use this as a place to enjoy the blooms all summer long. The flowers here now are a mix of grocery store blooms, flowers from the garden and wildflowers.

The mums, the ruffly yellow roses and the baby’s breath are from the market. The other flowers were picked from my backyard and the hillside behind our house. The cosmos is blooming nicely now and the white wedding hydrangeas are full of buds which will likely replace the grocery store flowers when they fade. The Queen Anne’s lace and the little wild daisies are fairly plentiful on the hill down to the lake right before the tree line.

I hope you were inspired to display your collections with summer blooms.

This week I’m joining some of my talented blogging friends for the Summer Seasonal Simplicity Series! Today we are all sharing our summer mantel decor ideas with you. Be sure to check them all out by visiting the links under the images below.
