Halloween Memories & a Chalkboard

Yesterday, I shared this year’s Halloween mantleThe one I said is was not going to do, but now I’m happy I did.

My intention was gather from the attic our nostalgic Halloween toys and display those along with a little freestanding accordion book of Halloween’s past.  I mean, who can resist little children dressed up in costumes?  I know I can’t.

Here’s a look at the whole vignette.

So it may look like a bit of a jumbled collection, but most of the toys have moving parts and are as much a part of our Halloween memories as the photos displayed behind the toys.

Here’s a closer look at the accordion book.

The construction is pretty simple really.  I just punched holes in black matte board and tie the pieces together with some colored twine.

These cute little kids are teenagers now and I think it’s unlikely they will dress up this year.

If you can’t tell, I love family photos.  I usually display this book on the front table, but I thought grouping it with the toys along our photo gallery wall was a fun walk down memory lane. 😉

So you might be wondering what’s on your front table then?

Another set of Halloween photos of course! And a edged piece of particle board I’ve had laying around my studio waiting for an inspired moment. That moment obviously came and involved a coat of chalkboard paint.

And just to be sure, I have forbidden my family from eating the candy corn around the candle.  Candy corn disappears pretty quickly around here.  If you go back and look at the first photo of the toy display the monster goblet is empty.  I realized this later and refilled it with candy.

We’ll see how long it lasts.

Check out my previous fall look and printables here.
