They make me smile every time I walk into the kitchen and each morning I make oatmeal for breakfast or every time I make cookies. The beauty of their simplicity and convenience just makes me happy. I feel like I’ve created a little baking center in that corner of the kitchen with my much loved candy apple red Kitchen Aid mixer right there.
Man, it’s the little things life that make us happy sometimes, isn’t it? No pulling out all the plastic containers I had in the pantry when I bake and measuring cups actually fit down in the canisters!! Happy, happy!
To create the labels I used chalkboard paint I already had from creating a chalkboard I apparently haven’t shared, because I couldn’t find it. Anyway, I used my Slice cutter by Making Memories to cut the shape of the “stencil” and then painted several layers of chalkboard paint.
If you look closely you will see that the paint bled just a smidge on almost all of them. But I don’t mind. I think it makes them look hand made and charming. 🙂 I labeled each canister with a chalk marker which was so much easier than writing with regular chalk on a curve.
Of course, I could have just purchase ready made chalkboard adhesive labels, but I wanted the project done as soon as I got them and knew I had all the supplies. The labels are very inexpensive and I actually ended up ordering some of when they came back to Very Jane to use elsewhere. (The owner, Megan, says she features them every month so join up because it’s a great price!) 🙂
Oh, I forgot to say that the glass canisters came from Target. I also wanted to give a disclaimer that I ended up using a sheet of plastic wrap under the lid of the brown sugar to keep it from drying out.
