Indigo Style & a Simple Foyer Refresh

Indigo blues have had their moment in interior style for quite some time, but according to House Beautiful’s most recent list of  trends for Spring and Summer 2018, the inky blues are going to continue to make us all swoon.  And I for one couldn’t be happier.

For this week’s #TeamKateCreate theme the team chose to create something for our homes using these deep blues as our inspiration.

I took the opportunity to give our foyer a little refresh.

A few subtle tweaks to existing furniture, a successful thrift store outing and a couple evenings of painting and I had a fresh, new, perfectly on-hue space.

Finally, adding more blues and indigo to the foyer brings the foyer in line with the various shades of blues and teal, the predominant color palette used throughout most of our house.

The approach to adding blue to your home can come from just a pop of blue in a neutral backdrop, like Hank & Audrey from Anything Rustic.

Or a moody backdrop to a luxurious bed.

Of course, any good inspiration post should never be without an inky blue kitchen.

Better Homes & Gardens

The color I painted the re-hacked dresser from Ikea is the same deep oceany blue I used in our son’s room, Maria Baja by Sherwin Williams.

You can see the original Ikea hack here.  For the life of me, I can no longer remember why exactly I chose such a bold color.

You can see in the full image that the watercolors I painted will live on the wall to the right of the stairs.  I created them to fit perfectly in the pair of frames I scored at Goodwill.

Oh, and did you catch the dog toy in the photo above? Oops!

I’ve got one more inspirational photo for you. How about blue in the bathroom?

There is plenty more to come on this bathroom. This is from a renovation I worked on this fall with my best friend, Dana. I can not wait to share the details with you!

Beautiful, and timely! I’ve been seeking the perfect color for a well loved chest from my Mom. SW Maria Baja just may be it! (I just discovered your blog thru Rhonda at Southern Hospitality. I love gutsy DIYers that share their successes AND disappointments.) FYI, there is a sneaky dog toy in many of my pics, too.

Oh, it is a gorgeous color. If you are looking for something more teal, I also love our dining room color. It is Deep Sea Dive.

Thank you for commenting! Rhoda is the sweetest!

And those sneaky dogs. Tucker makes many appearances. 😉
