Paper Sphere Ornaments

Christmas is coming and it’s time to get crafty! I decided to make paper sphere ornaments this year when I discovered I had limited options for the color scheme I wanted to use on our media room tree in the basement.

These ornaments are simple to make and with the help of a cutting machine can be made in about 20 minutes. But if you want to go old school and cut the circles by hand, I share a little circle cutting tip in the tutorial video.

The best part of this craft is that it is completely customizable to your style and color palette. Want an Christmas tree decked in orange or lilac? All you need is some card stock and some time. The same goes with your choice of paper patterns. If you wanted to create an old victorian style themed tree, choose papers that speak to that genre, lace, old newspaper etc.

This tree is far from done, but I wanted to start with these larger ormanets before going fully into tree decorating mode. Check back in a few weeks for the full reveal!! Here is a list of supplies and sources.

  • patterned and solid card stock (5 sheets will make 2 ornaments)
  • Scissors and/or cutting machine
  • Scrapbook glue stick
  • Adhesive tabs or 2 sided tape
  • Hot glue gun
  • wire
  • wire tools
  • miscelanous beads
  • bone folder (optional)

I have a few more crafty projects planned for this Christmas, a DIY tree topper and a special flower embellishment for my tree in the living room.

What a great collection of handmade ornaments – and fairly easy at that! I have chosen to make the twine “triangle wood” tree with the wood slice trunk and the rustic ice cream stick ornaments – did they use stickers to put the deer head on? I love these ornaments – the twine ball ornament and the little doily in the clear plastic ornament is to die for. Thank you so much for sharing!witneycouriers

I’ve always been a red and gold ornament girl but in recent years I’ve added in aqua as part of my color scheme. I always buy my ornaments at after Christmas sales for the best prices and stash them away for the following year. witneycouriers
