Holiday Tree Planter and Bringing Christmas to the Front Porch

This post is sponsored by The Home Depot.

The time to bring out the Christmas decor is coming swiftly! So, today I am sharing a little project to elevate your front porch  and up your tree game for Christmas.  I was invited to participate in the Home Depot Holiday Style Challenge this season and I am thrilled to be sharing my holiday front porch with you!

It is always hard to pick a favorite detail, but I think every holiday front door should be draped in garlands like this 17 ft garland decorated with mixed pines and poinsettias.

From the moment the front facade remodel of our house was finished I knew the front arch would be beautiful adorned with garland.

The garland is full of several different varieties of pines and comes completely decorated. The included ties make it easy to secure to any nail or hook. Who doesn’t love instant holiday decorating?

Once the arch was highlighted, I wanted to make an even more dramatic statement with a pair of pre-lit potted porch Christmas trees to flank either side of the entry.

These trees, adorned with berries and pinecones, come in urns but I wanted to create a more classic, clean-lined look to allow the architecture of our home to shine. I designed and built these holiday tree planters to perfectly encase the existing urn. By doing so I could enhance the look of the trees, as well as provide extra stability on cold and windy nights.

The plans can easily be modified to elevate your indoor Christmas tree to a whole new level.

On the French doors,  I used a pair of pre-lit, battery operated wreaths. Because my doors are not a standard size, I ordered these Wintery Pine Artificial Wreaths from HomeDepot.com in a 24” size.  I love that they offer such convenient options for finding exactly what we need to decorate for the holidays!

I also added Martha Stewart NOEL Luminaries alternating red and white to line the stairs. What a wonderfully warm way to welcome holiday guests!  I used battery operated candles that even have a timer, also from my local Home Depot store!

Don’t forget to check out the plans for the planters, here.  They are a simple and affordable project that could easily be done in an afternoon!  As I suggested earlier I will be building at least one more for my Christmas tree in our family room. I just love these planters!
