It’s good to be home. We traveled to our hometown in Louisiana this weekend for a beautiful family wedding. The family hugs and conversations are always a treasure, but it’s good to be home. Louisiana architecture and relaxed, traditional interiors definitely had an influence in the choice of brick for the backsplash of our new kitchen. ⠀

Busy celebrating little victories over here. 🙌🏻Finally hung and cleaned the crystals on this chandelier yesterday. Seems small, but It’s only been up since October. 🤷🏻‍♀️It’s the attention to the little details that make a house feel like home. What little nagging task have you or would you like to tackle?⠀I promise you it will be worth the time invested! ⠀
While I still consider this a progress shot, no doubt, it’s off to a really nice start thanks to careful planning during the design phase of our new build. After I finish the office/lounge space upstairs, I will turn my attention to finding curtains, new cabinet hardware and maybe a new rug. Even though this rug is one of my favorite things, a true investment piece that I splurged on for our last bathroom the way the room is configured I really could bring in a second rug and I might like to add a touch more blue tones. ⠀

We made it to Friday friends! Gotta question for you. What do you do for dinner when you forget to plan? Our go-to is some type of breakfast for dinner. I whip up an omelet and call it Brinner. 😊Last night was one of those nights. I think I deserved bonus points though because I had bacon tooI guess I better head to the store today. Did you know today is National Bubble Bath day? I didn’t either, until after I already showered for the day. Now I have a quite the dilemma! There was no better place to take a bubble bath than this spot right here. The over the tub shelf I designed and built for long soaks in the tub was the perfect addition. Turns out the proportions for our new tub is very different, so ended up giving it to the new home owner to enjoy. ⠀

FYI: I actually very much prefer bath salts to bubble bath these days. My favorite inexpensive salt is by Dr. Teal’s, Pink Himalayan Mineral Soak Restore & Replenish. It’s the pink one. I also decant it in a pretty bottle and keep it next to the tub just to make it feel super fancy. ⠀

An unexpected early morning helped me capture this new look in the kitchen. It's just a subtle shift in the arrangement on the oak peg shelves after the Christmas decor, but I kind of love it. Now I know if I want a great shot of the kitchen, I've got to rise before the sun. ⁠

Happy New Year! Happy 2020! I’ve been scheming and planning the projects for the new year and my studio/office/bonus room space is up first! Here are a few teasers for you.
