DIY Woodland Spring Dogwood & Fern Wreath

Today I’m sharing a woodland inspired fern and dogwood wreath. Because in my mind, Dogwood blossoms most definitely mark the beginning of spring! I have a basic set up type tutorial and a condensed video of the process to show you how it was done!

I remember this time last year when we first looked at the lot we built on, I saw one or two dogwood trees in the woods between our yard and the lake. Hoping I’ve remembered correctly, it won’t be too long before we found out.

I also have a huge infatuation with all types of ferns and especially love finding them wild in the woods. So, I thought creating a wreath with that inspiration in mind sounded perfect!

I ultimately decided to move the wreath to the front door even though it looked beautiful on our sliding door to the pantry.

Make this Dogwood and Fern Spring Wreath in under 30 minutes with these simple steps and short video tutorial.

Supplies:

  • 2 branches of Dogwood blossoms (From Hobby Lobby)
  • 1 bush of soft maiden hair fern (From Hobby Lobby)
  • 1 bunch of fern and pink blossoms (From JoAnn)
  • 2 bunches green varigated foliage
  • 1 grapevine wreath
  • wire cutters
  • hot glue
  • Gather all of your supplies and heavy duty wire cutters.
  • Trim pieces off of the bunches
  • Start layering fern pieces on wreath. I like to glue the loose pieces on later to be certain I am happy with the arrangement.

I put the wreath together the first time and decided it was a little too flowery. I removed a few flowers, but then realized the real problem I had with it was that the large and small dogwood blossoms were too mixed together.

I decided to separate many of the small blossoms from the branch and moved them to the ends of the arrangement on the wreath.

Here is a complete video of the process, the second time around. 🙂

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. If you are looking for more Spring Wreath Inspiration be sure to check out these other wreaths created by my friends as part of the Seasonal Simplicity tour.
