A little Thanksgiving treat to share with you toda

A little Thanksgiving treat to share with you today. This recipe is a family favorite and is on the non-negotiable list every year. They are truly fluffy pumpkin clouds with sweetness in every bite and the topped with chocolate. Don’t skip the chocolate!

I’ve been making them gluten free for years and they are still incredibly delicious with the substitution.

I usually make a half a batch unless we are hosting a big crowd. This is half and we always have plenty to eat and share.

INGREDIENTS

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 eggs
1 cup solid pack pumpkin puree
2 1/4 cups all purpose flour or cup 4 cup gluten free flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2/3 cup dried cranberries
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg [i usually add a little bit more because i love it]
1 tablespoon orange zest
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1 cup butterscotch chips
1 cup white chocolate chips
1/2 package chocolate almond bark [or any other type of melting chocolate]

Our home dressed for Thanksgiving. Last year, I collaborated with @kingofchristmas and needed to share our new tree sooner than I would usually. Once the tree was up, I had to admit I enjoyed the glow and sparkle during Thanksgiving. I approached the decorations similarly with a simple, warm color palette on the tree and dried gourds scattered around.

I think I’m well on my way to a new tradition and thought you might join me, even if it’s next year. (Save this Reel to your Holiday board so you don’t forget.)

This garland, also from @kingofchristmas can be battery operated or plugged in, but I forgot to turn it on for these videos.

Looking back over the last few years with a traditional Christmas decor palette, the scene was set for a different approach.

This coming season’s color palette took root last Thanksgiving. Can you guess?

Until the last couple of years, I was firmly planted in the decorate after Thanksgiving camp. But I’ve slowly moved towards adding at least a few festive touches before December and have enjoyed the glow, even without the full display.

Fall is here and its so lovely! Inside, I’ve piddled and shifted my favorite fall touches around the living room.

My best tips for a seasonal feeling are to focus on subtle changes that are true to what is happening outside. Fallen acorns and leaves. Consider new plant additions with natural autumnal color. Look for dried options The pumpkin gourds on the mantle feature a soft orange that is at home with softer color palettes.

Who wouldn't want to hang onto summer longer with a sunroom like this one? Creating an inviting room to enjoy no matter the season, was the task these clients gave me. I don't know if I could find a room I'd rather spend my days watching birds fly and the sunset behind the hillside. ⁠

Late summer in the kitchen. The weather is still too hot here to move into a fall state of mind.

I look forward to fall, but its hard to fake fall when the heat sticks to you and covers you with the wet blanket of humidity.

How about you? Do summer temps have a hold on you and seem unrelenting?

Not every kitchen requires all new cabinetry to feel completely transformed. Only the island is new! The lower cabinets in the before photo became the base to the peninsula where the wall came down in between the kitchen and the living room. The sight lines across the house are just open enough to let the wall of windows across the back of the house take center stage.

The Country House Kitchen. I promised myself I was

The Country House Kitchen. I promised myself I was going to hold onto the full reveal a little longer. This kitchen feels like fall to me and I would like publish more of the rooms in a portfolio form on the blog.

However, the first photo shoot of the kitchen here was a personal and professional victory for me and felt worth sharing.

I came into the project at the stage you see in the next slide, a new construction with no direction. Little did I know what I was getting myself into when I agreed to this project. To say it was full of challenges and delays, far out of my control, would be an understatement.

I was confident in the vision and design plan I developed for the home. I knew, maybe stubbornly, the end result would be worth all of the frustrations. A colleague came along with me for the shoot. She assured me it was worth seeing the vision to fruition and the glow in the eyes of the homeowners when they saw it styled for the shoot.

I can not wait to share more soon! I hope to return next week to photograph the main bathroom.

Creating an outdoor sanctuary takes time.
Layer potted plants, welcoming and functional decor and blooming gardens and let it envelope you.
The best improvement we made when we extended the patio was to add 4 fans.
As the dog days of summer hit us, the fans keep the patio comfortable and keep the mosquitoes away.
So we can enjoy the View.

Of course, the garden will continue to evolve. Last winter we lost 6 of our large hedges that were providing privacy. Sad loss, but I am excited to watch the new and different shrubs grow.

These dahlia blooms needed to come inside! It’s just too hot to go outside to go stare at them. 😍🥵Because the first two grew in between two longer stems the stems were very short. I decided to just place them in taller vases with the water filled to the top. I’ll check the water level frequently to make sure they can still drink.

Create a summer feeling in your home. I’ve always felt small, seasonal touches invigorates a room.If possible, connect your interior to the outdoors. Plants and florals make this look easy to achieve if you don’t have a view. Use colors that complement the room and reflect what brings you joy in the season.

I gravitate to blue and white for summer but softly colored pottery filled with branches or florals can work equally well.

With most of my spare time devoted to the cut flow

With most of my spare time devoted to the cut flower garden and plantings, I just recently transitioned the living room from spring to summer. The styling is not far off the blue and white look I adored last summer. But of course, I’ve added to my blue and white collection since last year and used different indoor plants to switch things up.

If you have been around my stories at all this summer, then you probably have noticed that my free time has been devoted to my garden instead of home projects.

This is my first season growing a cut garden and dahlias, specifically. I've had my share of failures already and that's what makes this first bloom so incredibly exciting.

This dahlia is most likely “Sweet Dreams Mix” from @edenbrothers i can't wait to see the rest of the buds open on this one.

About 1/3 of the tubers I purchased this year rotted. Most likely because our springs are too wet here in zone 7b. I also might have planted them too deep. Next year, I plan to start them in pots and then move them into the ground once they leaf out.

It's helpful to remember that gardening is a learning process as much as it is a growing process. What works in some climates doesn't work where you live. And as much as you read and practice what you learn, it is through battling your specific elements with trial and error that offers the best education.

I was so inspired by our recent trip to Sicily and

I was so inspired by our recent trip to Sicily and the Almafi Coast and wanted to bring that essence home. Both places used geraniums in planters on balconies, stairways and window boxes. Of course, citrus is plentiful and makes a bright summer addition to the olive branch wreath I already had.

Palermo è una città così bella Oh, Palermo you are a beauty.
Every city we visited in Sicily was as lovely as the next, but Palermo is as vibrant as it is historic. Even after more than 2 full days, there was so much we left unexplored.

Hiking the Path of the Gods is an incredible way to spend a day on the Almafi coast! From the rocky path, hugging the cliffs, the views of the countryside, the mountains and of course the coastline were absolutely breathtaking.

Our guide, Enzo @hiking_the_sky_amalfi_coast was an incredible host, sharing his knowledge and passion for hiking this coast. In one of the images you see our lovely plate of cheese, wine and bread at our stop to visit the goat cheese farmer.

The hike, which is 4.7 miles was not difficult, moderate is probably the best way to describe it. There were parts that required traversing larger rocks and a pole was handy. I can be a little afraid of heights but never felt uneasy. Stable athletic shoes are a must if you can’t pack boots for the trip.

I ambitiously thought we would take the steps down all the way to Positano but by the end of the hike, we decided a bus ride was a good idea.

An unplanned trip to Capr & Annacapri. We had a planned to see the Almafi Coast by boat but the water was too rough so we decided to take a ferry to the island of Capri. A quick search suggested a visit to Villa San Michele and the church of San Michele. What an unexpected adventure! We unknowing followed people up a steep path to upper Capri, but once we started we had to keep going. Thankfully, delicious antipasto and pizza was easy to find. Rested and refreshed we explored this beautiful island.

I love what I do and I am so grateful to have clients who trust me to create beautiful, functional spaces in their homes. Recently, I was interviewed by @houzz for this project and it was featured as the Bathroom of the Week on their site.

The Houzz article is well written and has an interesting perspective. I’ll link to this article in Stories. In the link in the bio, I’ll link to the main blog post with sources.

One question that keeps coming up in the comments both here and on my website are the paint colors. The cabinets are a match to Tarragon from Sherwin-Williams. The walls and paneling are not a source I can share. I had shades of beige/griege in mind and samples to coordinate with the tile. When it came to make the final paint selection once the tile was installed, we made a selection from the options I brought with me. My contractor was there and I handed those selections off to him and failed to make notations. Irregardless, I would never recommend any neutral paint color without seeing it in the room. The surroundings, natural and artificial light highly influence a paint color.
