This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Devine Color. All opinions are 100% mine.
More and more I find myself being drawn to rooms with high-impact wallpaper. Then I remember that I am currently living in a house full of wallpaper that is either not my style or is of unknown hideousness because half of the wallpaper still on the walls has been painted over! Gasp!
So when I began to look for inspiration for transforming my studio/office, the idea of hanging a bold patterned wallpaper seemed like a dream. Even if I am currently madly in love with a wallpaper, being stuck with it forever had me feeling uneasy. That fear was put to rest when I learned about peel and stick wallpaper from Devine Color + Target. Not only exceedingly easy to use, but it’s also removable!
And hello, not only is this Devine Color Ribbons pattern graphic and upbeat, it’s gold metallic! Y’all know I love gold accents!
While this is a pretty large wall, we could have easily hung it all in one day. I enlisted my friend Mary to help me out and we worked on it half of one day and then I finished the rest another day. Having a friend help is a good idea, especially while you are still getting the hang of it. Pun intended.
How to Hang Removeable Wallpaper & the best tips!
The process is fairly straightforward.
- You want to begin by measuring the height of your wall and transferring that measurement to your wallpaper, with just a little overlap at the top and bottom.
2. Then cut all the pieces needed to cover the wall and label them so you can keep track. (I have a piece of cardboard under the wallpaper.)
3. Draw a plumb line with a level to start completely level.
In this photo you see two lines, we decided to move the starting point over a little, so that the next piece would exactly hit the doorframe.
4. Then begin hanging the strips by removing a portion of the backing at a time. The directions say to use a squeegee, but I actually found it easier to use your hand.
TIP: You can be a bit more delicate with your motions and not force the paper down. The paper can easily be lifted and repositioned if necessary.
TIP: I also found working the paper softly toward the edges in a circular motion to be the simplest technique. Got to love a project you can just use your hands!
In no time at all, we had nearly finished the whole wall.
The next step in adding the desired drama to the office was to paint the door to the attic a beautiful, soft pink color, Devine Pirouette.
The best part about this collaboration between Devine Color + Target is that all of the paint colors coordinate with the current Target Style decor.
Painting the door was simple, quick and I was done in under 15 minutes. I followed with another coat once it was dry, mainly because the door was so textured I had missed some spots.
To bring that sweet pink color around the room, even more, I decided to paint some basic terra cotta pots for my plants.
After painting a pink base on the pots, I used tape to mask off a pattern inspired by the lines in the wallpaper.
With one quick pass with the Devine Color Radiant Metals Metallic paint, I knew I was in love! This is gold paint perfection! The finish is brilliant, perfectly iridescent and the color is really a true gold.
At this point, it shouldn’t be surprising to you that the color and tone of the gold is an exact match to the gold in the wallpaper. Man, that makes me so happy!
And the absolute best part of this Devine Color and Target duo? You can decide to completely transform your room with just one stop at Target. Every single item you see here is from my local Target and Target.com, except the plants of course.
Because let’s be honest. How many times have you gone to Target for milk and bread and came out with a cart full of the latest styles to freshen up a room.
Now you can not only makeover your room, you can completely transform after one stop at Target with paint and wallpaper from Devine Color by Valspar!
I should mention that even though the wallpaper is removable, it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. I love it!

November 6, 2017 at 4:55 pmHey Leslie! Love this article, I just wondered about the texture of your wall before you installed the wallpaper. I’ve read on the Target website that it MUST be at least eggshell, satin or semi-gloss, otherwise it won’t stick properly… Did you have any issues/concerns about that?
Cheers,
Rowan

February 12, 2018 at 2:58 pmHey Leslie! Ahhh I love Target. I also change my mind a lot, so removable is a PLUS for me. Although, I’d probably get too lazy to change it once I’ve put it up. Was it as easy as it looks?
