Fall Mantel with Dried Florals

This week in the Seasonal Simplicity Series we are highlighting fall mantel ideas. Be sure to check out the links at the end of this post for 20 more ideas!!

I’ve done my best to include links, near the end of the post, to items you can add to your home.

While the temperatures are still warm here in Alabama, I have seen a slight shift in the leaves behind our house already. Is it the fall color or heat exhaustion?

Either way, the seasonal shift has taken place in our home. Since it’s still early in the fall decor season, I’ve focused on sprinkling in autumnal colors, mostly with dried florals and the mantel is no exception.

Working with a Shallow Mantel

On our rather shallow mantel I focus on creating an interesting collection of items. This time, an eclectic mix of pottery and a few of my favorite interesting treasures.

The black and white pottery on the left features dried florals that echo the colors highlighted in our home this season.

Working with collections

I love finding pottery in unique shapes. While a collection of similar items is also a great idea for a shallow mantel, I love the asymmetrical approach with assorted shapes and styles.

On the right, a black wooden bowl provides a shapely silhouette next to the vintage books and miniature Chinese terracotta army horse.

For a little bit of patinaed shine, a brass cup sits next to a modern vase filled with more dried florals.

To further repeat the black accents, a black wicker basket is filled with faux stems in red and burgundy.

Of course, the main design element above the mantel, my favorite piece of decor in the room, is the Samsung Fame TV. I can’t tell you how much joy it brings me to be able to change out the digital image whenever the mood strikes.

I hope this year’s mantel inspires you! If you’d like to see last year’s fall mantel, check out this post here.
