Today I am sharing our spring home tour as part of the Seasonal Simplicity Series; our new traditional home styled simply for spring.
I am thrilled to invite you into our new home. We just moved last September so everything is still a work in progress around here, but I hope you will find little bits of inspiration as I take you around.
I always love these home tours. It’s the perfect opportunity to virtually visit some of my online blogging friends. Given the current state of our world, a virtual anything is becoming quite the necessary commonplace.
So get even more cozy on that couch and take a look around. It’s not perfect yet, but we love how it is starting to feel like home.
The dining room is right off the foyer and is part of a big vaulted room.
I had fallen in love with this footed bowl from Target and finally pulled the trigger while shopping for “stay at home” supplies. We all need a little bit of happy, right? I certainly don’t regret it. It makes a simple statement with the moss balls I’ve had for a few years. It could be filled with fruit or some Easter grass and large eggs too.
If you visited recently when I shared the two versions of the spring vignette blog hop, then you likely recognize this look. You can see the other version here.
One of my favorite additions I added to my spring decor this season was this free printable! I share the link in this blog post if you want to inexpensively print one of your own. (I printed mine at Walgreens. I would now suggest choosing home delivery.)
While I shared two versions, the blue and white is where I’ve landed for now. I will likely be making some changes around the house soon. (Check out my Instagram to see what’s happening @deeplysouthernhome.) I have a strong suspicion this blue buffet will be moving and I wanted to enjoy it like this for a little while.
Let’s go take a closer look at the kitchen.
shop the kitchen
I just made a few little changes with things I already had and added a large bunch of fresh white tulips. A faux arrangement will go here once they fade.
After I took a few photographs, I remembered I wanted to swap out this neutral rug for a soft blue wool rug, gifted from Wovenly Rugs during the Fall 2019 One Room Challenge.
Next to the cooktop I added an extra vase of faux greenery and a small print. Don’t forget that small pieces of art are beautiful personal additions in your kitchen.
In addition, I made a quick change of the art over the open shelves to a landscape a little more fitting for spring.
Like everyone else, I’ve been spending a lot of time at the sink washing my hands, humming the ABC’s in my head.
In the living room, where things are still just beginning to come together, I found a lovely set of branches of white peonies from HomeGoods. Here is a similar source.
This gorgeous neutral grey rug, also from Wovenly Rugs, is super soft underfoot and ties all the grey together.
A lighter mix of pillow covers in beige and champagne brighten the dark grey couch for spring. Similar ones also from West Elm, are here.
The dark grey sofas work beautifully with the up-cycled, flat fronted cabinets I embellished with caning. You can see that video tutorial here.
I wanted to share this not so exciting shelf with you so that you could see one really great moss hack I came up with. See that giant ball of moss in the big bowl? That is actually a sheet of moss that is rather stiff. I tucked the corners down into the bowl full of a few empty plastic grocery bags. I thought it was pretty clever way to get a giant “moss ball”!
Upstairs, I’m still working a little every day to try and pull the rest of this room together. It has a spring vibe completely all on it’s own.
The mural wallpaper from Awallon Design and the blue velvet couch are the stars of the room. (The couch is from Rooms to Go and was sponsored content. See this blog post.)
Our last stop is a peek into our master bedroom.
The only changes in here were the removal of the dark grey pillow shams and a winter wreath over the bed.
I covered the grey duvet cover with a throw I purchased on my trip to London a few years ago.

I share this close up for two reasons. First, Freddie definitely feels entitled to sleep on the bed whenever he chooses. Second, I wanted to bring you in closer on this duvet cover. If you are in the market for something light weight, incredibly soft and reasonably price then this set is the one. We absolutely love it. It comes in a variety of colors.
If you remember I mentioned that this tour was just the beginning! Check out my blogging friends who also open their homes up to you for spring!
But one last thing, if you love a good renovation and room makeover then be sure to subscribe to the blog here. Starting April 1st, I’ll be a Featured Designer in the One Room Challenge! You won’t want to miss a post! And if you want all the behind the scenes then follow me on Instagram or Facebook.
