  1. Love this deep color! Rosemary let me know about your blog. Look forward to meeting you at Haven. Linda

    1. Thank you! I couldn’t love it more too! Sometimes, you just got to be brave and go bold. The room is going to be so beautiful. It’s a shame it will take a while to develop with all the other projects I’ve got going. Happy to have you following!

  2. What color white did you paint your trim?

    1. Dawn,
I’m sorry my answer won’t be very helpful. It was a color match of the existing trim.

  3. It is better to give base a prime coat even a light one is good before painting the walls, overlap a little onto the wall and that will help hide old existing paint and will help in curing any new caulk.

  4. Forget the tape. Buy a decent brush and decent paint. Ask the professionals where you buy your supplies which are best. Learning to ‘cut’ around doors and windows is not hard, it just takes a little time to get the hang of it. All pro painters carry a damp rag to correct any problems. After a short amount of time you will be able to tackle anything.
Using a damp rag to correct any mishaps is greatly shorter than taping.
I am not a professional painter, yet I have shown many this technique and saved them
hours of the trouble and money of using tape.

    1. I do agree with you about learning to cut in without tape and I do so often, but with a dark color transition like this, it was faster for me to tape. Some people just don’t have the patience for cutting in like that and that’s why there is a market for tape. Thanks for commenting!

  5. Love the color you chose. Can you share the name and who makes the paint color? Thanks.

    1. Yes! This is Deep Sea Dive by Sherwin Williams. I love it!

  6. Amber Clement says:

Leslie, I’m painting a ceiling that looks like the one you brought back to life in this beautiful white. Was this also Sherwin Williams paint? Did you do anything else to cover the marbled yellowish brown faux paint?

  7. I love your tips. It’s really helping me to paint my room. But I have a question…which brand color did you use?

    1. The paint was Deep Sea Dive by Sherwin Williams in the dining room.

  8. If you tape, it is best to tear about 15″ of the off roll and place then knife the tape down. When you use from the roll you are pulling and stretching the tape and it curls. Not good. RIP IT, DONT PULL IT!

NEVER TAPE PAINTED CEILING’S. IT’S JUST WRONG.
